Wrongful death at the workplace

Wrongful death numbers down at workplace, number still too high. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor gave through with some great news that is good to hear among the whirlwind of injuries and negative occurrences that happen at the work place which we blog about on a day to day basis. It has now been reported that in 2013, the number of workers who were killed by a job-related death was down more than eighty deaths from last year's total of nearly 4700. This is now the fourth year in a row that Wrongful Death cases at worksites have dropped.

According to the survey, less than 20% of the work-related deaths had to do with another person or an attack by an animal. It was also reported that about 33% of the workers ended their own lives. The majority of the rest of the deaths took place because of motor vehicle accidents.

Of course, car accidents and truck accidents are not the only situations in which workplace accidents can happen. Falling objects and workers falling from scaffolding and other high places are other situations where workers can suffer from injuries that may prove to be fatal, especially at construction sites. In some other instances, defective machinery and other defective products used in the workplace could cause the death of an unsuspecting worker.

Pittsburgh-area workers of every job, from office employment to the train yard, want their employers to take the proper precautions to ensure that they are safe while they are working, but this isn't always the case. And although the numbers we're reading about are getting better, they are still way too high.
