What to do if You Have Been Injured

If you have been injured at work, hurt in an accident, we recommend taking the following steps to protect yourself and maximize the workers' compensation benefits available to you:

  • Report your injury. In Pennsylvania, you have a 120-day time limit in which to report your injury.
  • See approved doctor. See a doctor who is on the workers' compensation Approved Doctor List (often referred to as the panel list of doctors.) This information is available at your workplace. Since workers' compensation covers workplace accident expenses, they designate the approved doctors. IF they don't have a list call Dugan & Associates.
  • File a workers' compensation injury claim. If you have sustained an injury at work, you may be eligible for workers' compensation benefits. These benefits cover wage loss, medical, and in some circumstance, a specific loss (finger, hand, arm....).
  • Contact a work comp lawyer. In a number of circumstances, hiring a workers' comp lawyer can be beneficial:
  • If a workers' compensation injury claim has been denied
  • If workers' comp benefits are being paid, but for the incorrect amount
  • If the injured or ill worker experiences retaliation by the employer
  • If the injured worker is denied medical care
  • If they are attempting to modify, suspend, terminate, or stop your wage loss and medical benefits
