Repeat industrial accident under investigation

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating a concrete plant after a second industrial accident occurred earlier this month. In the more recent accident, two men were coiling high-gauge cables when the cable snapped. One man was killed when the cable struck him in the head, and the other had his leg severed by the cable. In the first accident, a worker had to have his leg amputated after a concrete pole, which had been stacked on other poles, fell on him.

Multiple accidents in the same plant can be evidence of negligence on the part of the employer to properly follow safety protocols in order to ensure the health and safety of their employees. OSHA is looking into these accidents, as well as the District Attorney's Office in order to determine whether or not there are grounds for criminal charges.

Some workplace accidents are just that -- pure accident. However, when the injuries or deaths occur due to improper protocols, there are legal options open to help to cover the costs of the medical or funeral expenses, as well as personal injury claims. Bills can stack up quickly when there is no longer income coming in, and this can cause an already challenging situation of injury or disability to become much worse.

An attorney experienced in employment law, workers' compensation and personal injury can be an excellent resource for people who have been injured on the job and their families. Seeking legal advice can present options that they may not have known were open to them in order to begin to regain their lives following a tragedy.
