Man injured while performing work on power lines

A Pennsylvania man has filed suit against a roofing company after the plaintiff fell from a utility pole and sustained serious injuries. The Bucks County residents filed the action in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, suggesting that Quality Roofing Supply Company and one of its employees were negligent.

According to court documents, at around 12 p.m. on July 8, 2013, the incident occurred as the plaintiff was doing work on wires that were attached to a utility pool on Colket Lane in Tredyffrin. While he was working, the roofing company's employee backed out of a driveway and struck the pole. The impact forced the pole and the plaintiff to fall to the ground.

The man suffered a number of serious injuries, including disc herniation, knee sprains and back sprains. He also suffers from a number of cognitive issues, such as vertigo and post-traumatic headaches, due to a concussion he suffered in the incident. The filing suggests that these issues have resulted in high costs for medical treatment and rehabilitation and claims that his earning ability has been diminished. He is reportedly seeking over $50,000 through the lawsuit to help cover those damages.

While this workplace accident case has been taken to civil courts, those injured under similar conditions might consider filing a workers' compensation claim in an effort to recover damages. Through that claim, an injured worker might receive benefits that cover healthcare costs and lost wages that stem from the accident. When filing such claims, some claimants might choose to work with an attorney who is familiar with such actions. That attorney may be able to help a client fill out the necessary paper work and dispute a denial of benefits if necessary.
