Social Security Disability - May is American Stroke Month-F.A.S.T.

Social Security Disability. May is American Stroke Month. Unfortunately many people find out too late when someone is having the symptoms of a stroke. We see it too often at Dugan & Associates as we help people get Social Security Disability Benefits for people who are disabled whether from a stroke or other conditions. The American Heart Association / The American Stroke Association want you to know how to spot a stroke. We want to help get the work out. They have come up with a simple way to spot the symptoms of a stroke

Think you're having a stroke? Call 911 Immediately. F.A.S.T is the easy way to remember the signs and symptoms of having a stroke. When you spot the signs and symptoms you know you are having a stroke you'll know to call 911 immediately. F.A.S.T is:

F-Face drooping. Does ones side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is their smile uneven?

A-Arm weakness or numbness. Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to lift their arms. Does one arm drift downward?

S-Speech slurred? Is the person unable to speak or hard to understand? Ask them to repeat a simple sentence, like "is the sky blue?" Is the sentence repeated correctly?

T-Time to call 911. If someone shows any of these symptoms, even if they start going away, call 911 and get the person to the hospital immediately. Check the time so you know when the symptoms first started.
