Man suffers work-related injuries in industrial accident

Anytime a worker must use heavy machinery, there is a risk of injury. While employers in Pennsylvania and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration attempt to keep employees safe, it is difficult in many cases to prevent all work\-related injuries. Unfortunately, one out-of-state man was recently hospitalized after he was injured by a heavy piece of machinery.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred just before 9 a.m. on a day in May. The employee was reportedly working on a piece of machinery, called a wood chipper, at a power station at the time of the accident. The machine allegedly fell over, landing on the man.

He was reportedly able to pull himself out from under the equipment. Officials claim that while his injuries were not considered life-threatening, he was transported to the hospital. His current condition is unclear.

Unfortunately, even relatively minor work-related injuries can have a significant impact on a person's life, sometimes preventing workers from returning to work in the same capacity, if at all. Often, medical bills and lost wages can be a concern. Fortunately, Pennsylvania requires all employers to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage for their employees in the event of such an accident. In addition to lost wages and medical bills, these benefits can also help with job training should the victim be unable to perform the same job. A professional with experience concerning such benefits can help injured workers fully understand the benefits to which they are entitled and help them pursue fair compensation.
