Industrial accident sends man to Pennsylvania hospital

Workplace dangers can lurk in a variety of unexpected places. As a result, even workers who keep safety as their top priority can still fall victim to an industrial accident. Unfortunately, one worker was recently transported to a hospital in Pennsylvania after he was injured at work.

According to reports, the incident happened just before noon on a day in late July. Reports indicate a man in his 40s was injured after his leg became trapped at a well pad. Emergency personnel who responded to the call say that the man's leg was partially amputated.

The victim was transported to a helicopter pad by ambulance before being flown to a hospital in Pennsylvania. His current condition is unclear. A representative of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says that the organization is aware of the accident. While the representative supplied no additional details, he did indicate that the incident remains under investigation.

Because of the possibility of an employee falling victim to an industrial accident, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage. An injury as serious as a partial amputation, for example, will likely require extensive medical treatment. The victim, however, may never fully recover and could, as a result, be unable to return to work in the same position. Fortunately, workers' comp benefits can help with the financial burdens that an injury such as this can create, including providing for medical expenses and lost wages. An attorney with experience in the compensation process can help injured workers in Pennsylvania fully understand their rights and seek a fair compensation.
