Man hospitalized after injured on the job

Many workplaces in Pennsylvania and other areas of the country are filled with risks. While employers and agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration often go to great lengths to protect employee safety, accidents can still occur. Unfortunately, a man in another state was recently hospitalized after he was injured on the job.

The accident reportedly occurred just after midnight on a day in late July. Injuries were reported after an employee of Ventra is said to have been struck in the face and head by a chain. Police believe that the incident was an accident even though the events leading up to it are unclear.

The man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. While still in the hospital days after the incident, reports indicate that he is in stable condition and is expected to survive. The man's employer was previously fined $7,000 for a 2015 accident that resulted in a fatality; the victim's husband is currently in the process of suing several companies as a result of that incident.

An employee can become injured on the job regardless of his or her area of occupation. As a result, states -- including Pennsylvania -- are required to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits. These benefits can help injured workers manage the financial consequences of a workplace injury, including lost wages and medical costs. However, many employees often feel it is necessary to seek help from a professional with experience with the compensation process to help ensure they receive a fair settlement.
