OSHA investigates after man is injured on the job

All jobs in Pennsylvania and across the country hold some degree of risk. However, those that involve the movement of heavy equipment or objects that need to be repaired can ultimately result in workplace accidents with severe consequences.  Unfortunately, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating a workplace accident in which an employee was injured on the job.

The incident happened one afternoon on a day in August. According to reports, a man was injured at East Coast Repair and Fabrication -- a company that works in ship construction and repair. Workers were reportedly attempting to move a tug boat for repair.

Unfortunately, a male employee in his 50s is said to have become pinned between the boat and a concrete pillar. Reports indicate that the man suffered injuries considered life-threatening, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment. If OSHA discovers that safety or health standards were violated in the events leading up to the accident, the man's employer could face fines and/or citations.

As anyone who has suffered a serious injury can likely attest, they often require extensive medical treatment that ultimately creates a large amount of medical bills. In cases involving a victim in Pennsylvania who is injured on the job, victims are often entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits. An attorney with experience with such benefits can help those entitled to them seek full and fair compensation. As victims who are in the hospital receiving medical treatment are often unprepared to negotiate with an insurance company, such a professional can give these victims some peace of mind.
