Man arrested after officer is injured on the job

While all jobs hold some degree of risk, police officers in Pennsylvania and across the country often place themselves in between dangerous situations and the general public. Unfortunately, an officer responding to the scene of a possible firearm violation is currently in the intensive care unit after he was injured on the job. A suspect has since been taken into custody.

The incident happened one afternoon on a day in October. According to reports, officers responded to the scene. However, when the suspect spotted them, he allegedly fled the scene. Reports claim that the suspect struck a police officer who was on a bicycle as he left.

Police were reportedly able to locate that suspect's car. After searching the general area of the abandoned vehicle, they were ultimately able to take the man into custody hours after the initial incident. The identity of the suspect and the charges he may face is unclear. The police officer is currently listed in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

The injured police officer likely has a long recovery ahead of him. Due to the nature of his injuries, he could potentially be unable to return to work in the same capacity. Between lost wages and medical bills, worry about his financial stability make take a prominent role during time that should be focused on his emotional and physical recovery. Fortunately, he may be entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits which can help him with the financial ramifications of his injuries and recovery. Because the process can be complicated, many people in Pennsylvania who were injured on the job and deserve such benefits seek help as the navigate through the compensation process.
