Ruptured line at construction site accident results in fatality

Workers at construction sites in Pennsylvania are often trained on how to avoid being involved in workplace accidents. Despite their preparation, awareness and vigilance, many still find themselves the victims of a construction site accident. Unfortunately, a family in another state is likely still wondering how they will cope with the unexpected death of their loved one in such an event.

The incident that led to the man's' death happened on a day in late November. According to reports, he was at a construction site for a Garmin distribution center that began approximately a year ago. He was 28 years old.

Reports indicate that the man was working on a high-pressure valve that was located near the loading dock of a warehouse. Although it is unclear what caused it, the line reportedly ruptured, killing the man. No other injuries were reported. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will likely conduct an investigation, as is typical following a fatal workplace accident.

Because of the possibility of being involved in a construction site accident -- as well as other workplace accidents -- even when strict safety measures are in place, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage. These benefits are intended to help employers with medical expenses and lost wages if they are injured. In the event of a fatality such as this, the benefits can extend to certain family members and also provide for funeral expenses. In order to fully understand to what they are entitled, many in Pennsylvania who lose family members in such a manner choose to seek advice from an attorney with experience with the process.
