Workplace accidents: Few details in fireman's death

It is almost a natural instinct to flee in the face of danger, including a raging, out-of-control fire. Fortunately, while the average person in Pennsylvania is running from danger, there are firefighters who are running toward it to help control it and, hopefully, minimize the amount of damage it causes. Unfortunately, the nature of a firefighter's job could place the individual at risk of being involved in workplace accidents. For example, many people across the nation watched the recent funeral procession for a firefighter in another state who died while fighting a dangerous wildfire.

The incident that led to the man's death happened in December. According to reports, the 32-year-old victim had been with the fire department since 2009. At the time of his death, he was reportedly working with a five-engine strike team at the site of a part of the fire that was considered "very active."

Many of the details of the incident that led to the man's death are unclear. However, reports indicate that he was out of his truck at the time. An autopsy report reveals that his cause of death was smoke inhalation and burns. He leaves behind a pregnant wife and a young daughter.

Fortunately, people are joining together to support the young widow financially through the use of a fundraising site. Despite their efforts, an unexpected death such as this can have a lasting financial toll. While many people who lose loved ones in workplace accidents in Pennsylvania and across the country are entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits, it is often difficult to negotiate with an insurance company during a time of grief. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who are dedicated to helping these victims seek the compensation they deserve.
