Man suffers fatal fall in job site accident

Those who work in the field of construction in Pennsylvania and across the country face multiple, and often unique, risks. As many work at great heights, they could face the risk of a fall. In fact, a man in another state recently passed away after he reportedly fell from a ladder at a job site.

The incident allegedly happened at a site that is said to have been undergoing renovations. A volunteer fire company initially responded to the scene but called for additional help soon after arriving. It was later determined that the victim fell approximately 20 feet off a ladder, becoming trapped between an elevator counterweight and a wall.

Initial emergency responders asked for additional resources to assist with a confined space rescue. Once help arrived, the man was extricated in approximately 15 minutes. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by multiple organizations.

While a fall at work may seem like a relatively innocuous event, as this incident shows, the consequences can be catastrophic, even fatal. Unfortunately, a family is now facing the ramifications of this job site accident. While it will do little to reduce their grief, they may be entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits to help them manage some of the financial consequences of their loss. Those who deserve such benefits in Pennsylvania often ask an experienced professional to guide them through the process. Often having such a person on their side can help them as they seek a fair settlement.
