City plumber suffers fatal work-related injuries

Regardless of a one's occupation in Pennsylvania, a worker is likely aware of the most typical hazards that a particular job entails. Unfortunately, there are certain incidents that simply cannot be anticipated. For example, a worker in another state recently suffered fatal work-related injuries in an accident that some reports describe as "horrific."

The incident happened on a day in mid-June. According to reports, the victim, a female plumber employed by a city in another state, was working with a crew. Social media reports made by a reporter following the accident indicate that she was digging a trench at the time.

Unfortunately, a car reportedly rolled off the back of a tow truck, striking the woman. Comments made by a tow truck driver called to the scene after the accident intimate that a car rolling off a back of the truck -- even when the truck's bed is in a downward position as was reportedly the case in this incident -- is a rare occurrence. The incident remains under investigation.

The deceased worker is said to have left behind a 2-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, this workplace accident shows that not all hazards can be expected or anticipated. As such, the laws that require employers to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits -- which can extend to certain family members in the event of a fatality -- are understandable. Despite this requirement, those in Pennsylvania who deserve such compensation due to work-related injuries may be unfamiliar with the process, making it difficult for them to negotiate for a fair settlement on their own. This prompts many people to seek guidance from a professional with experience with such negotiations.
