Pennsylvania construction accident remains under investigation

Because there are multiple known hazards in the workplace, efforts are often made to protect employee safety. In fact, organizations such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration put rules in place in an attempt to reduce the number of workplace accidents. Unfortunately, such precautions are not always enough to stop a construction accident from happening in Pennsylvania and across the country.

In fact, officials in Pennsylvania are currently investigating a recent accident that resulted in a fatality. Authorities claim that they received a report of the accident around 1:30 p.m. on a day in July. Unfortunately, the victim -- whose identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the accident -- died at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police and the local medical examiner's office. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed in the days after. OSHA typically also investigates following a fatal workplace accident.

Now a family is left to cope with the news of the unexpected death of a loved one. Often, such a loss also comes with significant financial implications due to lost wages and funeral expenses. Because it is not possible to completely eliminate the possibility of being involved in a construction accident, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage. Despite being entitled to this compensation, many people -- including surviving family members in the event of a fatality -- often find negotiating with an insurance company difficult, especially when they are also working to come to terms with their loss, prompting them to seek guidance from a professional with experience with the process.
