Workplace accidents: 1 killed, several injured

In a Pennsylvania workplace, there are often unexpected issues that can arise that may ultimately put the safety of employees at risk. Though measures can be taken to reduce the potential of such a scenario occurring, workplace accidents can still happen. Unfortunately, a fatal accident in another state is currently under investigation.

The incident happened one morning on a day in late July. Reports indicate that the fire department reported to an industrial site after receiving a call about a worker trapped under heavy equipment. When rescue workers arrived, they reportedly discovered one man pinned and four others suffering from injuries.

A concrete form said to be used to create livestock feed bunks reportedly overturned while workers were attempting to fill it. One man died at the scene. The injuries of the four workers ranged from minor to serious, and they were transported to the hospital for treatment. The victims' identities were not immediately released following the accident. The accident happened at Nebraska Precast LLC, a company that creates concrete products used in landscaping and agriculture, among other uses.

Unfortunately, one family is left coping with the news of their loved one's death while four people may be facing a lengthy recovery period. Because workplace accidents can occur in even the safest environments, employers in Pennsylvania and across the country are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage. A professional with experience with these benefits can help those who deserve them -- including certain family members in the event of a fatality -- throughout the compensation process.
