Authorities investigate fatal industrial accident

Because of the potential for workplace accidents in Pennsylvania and other areas of the country, organizations such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration work hard to put certain safety standards in place to protect workers. Unfortunately, even with these standards, workers continue to get injured. For example, officials in another state are investigating a recent industrial accident that resulted in a fatality.

The incident happened late one evening on a day in early November. According to reports, a 25-year-old who had been operating machinery fell from the equipment. When he did so, he reportedly struck his head.

Although emergency crews responded to the scene, the man reportedly died from the injuries suffered in the accident. While police postponed the release of the man’s identity, they are continuing their investigation into the incident. OSHA will likely investigate the incident as well, and the man’s employer could be fined, cited or both if it is found that violations of health or safety standards led to the man’s death.

No family in Pennsylvania is prepared for the news of the unexpected death of their loved one. In addition to the grief associated with such an event, many families often find the financial ramifications of their loss overwhelming. Because of the potential for harm suffered as a result of an industrial accident, employers are required to provide workers’ compensation insurance coverage, which can extend to certain family members in the event of a fatality. Unfortunately, the process can be complicated, prompting many people who deserve such benefits to ask an experienced professional to help them through the process.
