Mesothelioma survivor has illness under control

Every year in Pennsylvania, construction workers are injured on the job, often as the result of preventable accidents. Of course, everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes injury cannot be avoided. Fortunately, if you are hurt at work, you may be able to claim workers' compensation to help you cover your medical expenses and support you financially during your recovery.

However, it is not only accidents that put construction workers at risk but also exposure to toxic or otherwise harmful substances. For example, countless employees throughout the United States have been diagnosed with mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos during their work. This rare cancer has devastated many families, and if you suspect you may have been exposed to asbestos, you should seek advice from your doctor as soon as possible.

This illness can have a huge effect on its victims and often proves fatal. Even so, there is still hope and pursuing treatment as soon as possible can improve your chances significantly. In Pennsylvania, an 88-year-old woman has stunned doctors by surviving more than 10 years past her diagnosis, despite her advanced age. Although the illness is not said to be in remission, her doctors believe that it is under control.

If you have developed an occupational illness as a result of working in construction or you have been injured at work, do not be afraid to seek the compensation you deserve. While it can seem like a lot to deal with when you are unwell, a successful claim could significantly reduce the financial burden of your illness or injury. An attorney may be able to help you build your case and support you through the legal process, so you do not have to manage any difficulties alone.
