Man dies in construction accident

All jobs in Pennsylvania and across the country hold the risk of harm to employees. However, workers in the construction field often face more than the average employee due to the heavy equipment they work with as well as the heights they may sometimes work. Unfortunately, one out-of-state man recently passed away as a result of a construction accident.

The incident happened on a day in May. According to reports, the 37-year-old victim was working on a building in an industrial park. The project was being run by KamTek Corporation.

Many details regarding the accident are unclear, but reports indicate that the man fell over 80 feet from the building. According the coroner, the man died at the scene. Fatal workplace incidents such as this typically result in an investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. If OSHA determines safety and health standards were violated in the events leading up to the accident, the company could face fines, citations or both as a result.

No family is prepared for the news that their loved one was involved in a fatal construction accident. While many struggle to cope with the grief stemming from such a loss, they may also face obstacles as a result of the financial ramifications, including loss of wages and funeral expenses. Fortunately, Pennsylvania requires all employers to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits to their employees. These benefits can extend to certain family members in the event of a fatality. Because the average person is unfamiliar with the compensation process, experienced professionals can help them through the process, helping them to ensure fair treatment.
