Workplace accidents: Man killed in industrial accident

The vast majority of workers in Pennsylvania are extremely conscientious about their safety as well as the safety of their co-workers. However, even those who are most committed to following all safety recommendations can be involved in workplace accidents. Unfortunately, a man in another state was recently killed in what has been deemed an industrial accident.

The incident involved an explosion and fire that was reported just after 2 a.m. on a day in late March. A 64-year-old man was reportedly trapped inside of a building. Although he was ultimately rescued, he suffered severe burns.

He was transported to the hospital but efforts to revive him after he stopped breathing were unsuccessful. Other injuries were reported, but the number and extent of injuries suffered are unclear. Although the incident has been determined to be an industrial accident, it remains under investigation. Part of the investigation includes determining the cause of the accident.

Those injured may face a long and difficult recovery while the family of the deceased man are left, unexpectedly, planning a funeral. Victims of workplace accidents -- including surviving family members in the event of a fatality -- are often left dealing with the financial consequences of the harm they suffered in addition to the physical and emotional. Often, medical bills, lost wages and funeral expenses become overwhelming, but many victims of such incidents -- including surviving family members -- are entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits. An attorney with experience with such benefits can help victims of such accidents in Pennsylvania fully understand what they are entitled to and seek appropriate compensation.
