Fatal workplace accident under investigation

Many people in Pennsylvania and across the country may take electricity for granted. Until power goes off, it is something that is simply there that makes their lives so much easier. Additionally, some people are unaware of the potential harm that electricity can cause, especially for those who work around power lines, for example. Unfortunately, electricity is believed to have been the force behind a recent fatal workplace accident in another state.

The incident happened just before 9:30 on a morning in early May near the Ray Nixon Power Plant. According to reports, the two victims were contractors. At the time of the accident, they were collecting soil samples.

Unfortunately, the boom of their truck reportedly came into contact with a power line said to carry 12,500 volts of electricity. The truck caught on fire which eventually spread to a grassy area nearby. Firefighters discovered the men's bodies in the truck. Though initial evidence points to electrocution as cause of death, autopsies will be performed. The victims are said to be two men in their 20s.

An official investigation will work to fully understand what caused the accident and its aftermath; however, the families of the two deceased men are now forced to confront the news and impact of the fatal workplace accident. For many families, the consequences of such a loss are both emotional and financial. As a result, employers in Pennsylvania and all other states are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage, which can help with the financial consequences of an accident such as this, including covering funeral expenses and providing for lost wages. Because most grieving families feel unprepared to negotiate with insurance companies, many ask an experienced professional for help.
