Workplace accidents: Man killed in front-end loader accident

Many occupations in Pennsylvania require an employee to perform the same or relatively similar tasks every day. While these tasks can become second nature, there are still risks associated with them that could lead to Workplace Accidents. Unfortunately, reports indicate that a man in another state recently lost his life in an accident involving a front-end loader.

The incident at a Hewlett-Packard campus reportedly happened just before 3 p.m. on a day in May. According to reports, the employee was using a front-end loader that had a large metal box on it. Reports indicate that the box was at a high level at the time of the accident.

Unfortunately, the heavy load reportedly fell, landing on the driver's compartment of the front-end loader. The man reportedly died at the scene. His identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the accident. His death will likely spark an investigation by multiple agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. If it is determined that workplace health and safety violations contributed to the accident, his employer could face citations, fines or some combination of both.

Workplace accidents can happen in even the safest environments to the most careful employees despite their best efforts to remain safe. Because such incidents can create devastating financial consequences for workers and their families, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage. In the event of a fatality, these benefits can extend to certain family members. Because most people in Pennsylvania are unable to cope with the complicated process following the loss of a loved one, they often choose to hire an attorney with experience with the process to help them.
