Man killed in recent industrial accident

Regardless of the type of occupation, there are certain dangers that workers in Pennsylvania and across the country might encounter. Because of the potential for harm, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits. The family of a deceased worker in another state may qualify for these benefits after a recent industrial accident resulted in a loss of life.

The accident happened on a day in late October. According to reports, the victim was a 51-year-old man. He was reportedly operating some sort of machinery when something -- such as a piece of carpet -- became caught in it. Another worker is believed to have tossed him a rope.

Unfortunately, reports indicate that when the victim bent to retrieve the rope, he become trapped between a moving part of the machine and an I-beam. The county coroner speculates that the cause of death will be determined to be blunt force trauma. Local police officers have deemed the event an accident and are not investigating. However, officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will likely want to determine whether any health or safety standards were violated leading up to the fatality.

Despite the many efforts of employers to protect their workers, an industrial accident can still happen. In this situation, a family is likely still coming to terms with the news regarding the unexpected death of their family member. Because many families are as financially unprepared for such a loss as they are emotionally, they will likely need workers' compensation insurance benefits to help them manage these expenses. To help ensure they receive a fair settlement, many people in Pennsylvania seek the advice of an experienced professional.
