Pennsylvania firefighter suffers fatal work-related injuries

Most people in Pennsylvania are aware of the danger that firefighters face as they complete their job responsibilities and fight to protect the safety of others. Unfortunately, those dangers have recently been realized after a firefighter lost his life due to work\-related injuries. Two other firefighters were treated for injuries suffered while fighting the same fire.

The 42-year-old man was killed as he and crews responded to a fire at a row house one morning on a day in early January. According to reports, the fire burned for approximately two hours before firefighters were able to control it. Unfortunately, an interior structure collapsed in a home, pinning the victim.

Reports indicate that it took approximately 30 minutes to free the firefighter. Although he was transported to the hospital, he died as a result of his injuries. An occupant in the house that collapsed was also killed. Two other firefighters were also treated at the hospital but were expected to be released soon afterward.

Unfortunately, the family of the deceased Pennsylvania man is now forced to come to terms with the unexpected loss of their family member. In addition to coping with the emotional ramifications of his loss, the financial complications created by lost wages and funeral expenses can quickly become overwhelming. As a result, states are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage to help workers and their families financially in the event work-related injuries occur. Because families who have lost a loved one in such a manner are focusing on their recovery, they often ask an experienced professional to help them with the compensation process.
