Man dies of work-related injuries after slipping

The typical person in Pennsylvania has likely felt that their plans or daily routines were hindered by weather conditions, specifically conditions that are related to snow and ice. However, employees often work around the clock during a major storm event to ensure that the roads are clear as soon as possible. In some cases, they may even put their own lives at risk due to work-related injuries.

Unfortunately, a man in a village in a neighboring state recently lost his life while working for the village's utility department. According to reports, the 49-year-old victim climbed into the back of a dump truck that was at a village facility. Unfortunately, it is believed that he slipped, causing him to fall into a salt auger.

He was later discovered by a co-worker. Emergency workers were called to the site of the accident, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident likely remains under investigation.

A family is now left, unexpectedly, planning the death of their loved one. While the family comes to terms with their grief, many in Pennsylvania who lost a loved one in such a manner are often forced to come to terms with the financial consequences of their loss. Lost wages and funeral expenses can create an overwhelming burden. Fortunately, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage that can help with many of the costs associated with a fatal work-related injuries. Because the compensation process can be overwhelming -- especially for those in the midst of a traumatic loss -- there are experienced professionals available to help guide them through the process.
